A Deal With the Sinterklaas: From a Set to a Game

Last week, a "secret" deal was established with Sinterklaas which was made publicly available in our WHAM poster. So the deal was to win a set to keep the gifts from Sinterklaas this year. Seems like ninejaturtles were longing for this kind of motivation long ago but why win a set and not a game?!! Here goes the full story of hero turtles on a rainy day.

For sure, everybody does remember how bad the weather was on Friday: rainy and windy and poor turtles were missing the home match as the match was in Hengelo and their master Splinter! Nevertheless, these were not the things that could stop them, all they needed were a good hot meal and strong coach substitutes ;) Luckily, they had both! Captain Roxana prepared a healthy and delicious winter meal which supplied a lot of energy to the team for cycling under the rain and playing for a win!! Master Splinter arranged two Wonder Women (Delisa and Esmee) to guide the turtles and this worked out astonishingly well!!

During the warm-ups (attacks and serves), it was easy to notice that the opponents make a lot of serve mistakes and have weak attacks. The first set started slightly even but by the end of the set, we had a clear advantage and the first winning set of the season (21-25)! Then the idea of winning a second set, then third, then forth ... came to the minds of ninejaturtles and WW (WONDER WOMEN).

Turtles also had clear advantages in the second and the third sets. The confidence they gained increased team spirit and trust among them. Opponents struggled with serve receives and controlling the ball in their area as well. We knew how they were feeling but it wasn't time to feel sorry for them but win the game! With the right tips from WW on serve receive and positioning, we won the sets (17-25, 12-25)

There came the fourth set, clear winners of the rainy autumn night and delicious brownies by Shuyu!
