Match Day 30-09

Today was our first official match we played together as Gents 2. Although we played multiple pre-season tournaments before the match we figured that we need more time to get used to each other.

For the match against Devoc Heren1 we had prepared quite well enough however our match did not go so well unfortunately. To start the game we chose the most experienced players first so we can get a good understanding of our opponents. the first set started alright but we quickly discovered that se still need to work on our service recieve. With the service recieve affecting our morales and motivation we tried getting them back with our attacks and we fought back nicely. However our attempts were in vain because we have lost the first set.

Altough we fought back harder and harder after each set we unfortunately lost the next 2 sets. Since we had nothing else to lose (other than losing 4-0 of course) we all played more confident and took more risks. Our new (and so innovative) startegy has raised our morales and we started scoring back to back. With us pushing hard and our teams getting tired we have managed to win the last set.

So all in all it was a nice experience as a first match for our newly formed team and we have once again proven that there is a Harambee curse on the first matches. Even though we lost the first 3 sets you know what they say: Whoever wins the last set wins the game:)
