The Derby Against 7-UP

Hello fellow blog readers. I was just wondering how many people actually read the blog posts and whether it actually has to be in English. Luckily the Nerds will be adding a comment section to the blogs but this is still not a high priority. Hopefully soon in the future though. Anyways, I'm catching up on recent games and of course our derby against gents Juf cannot be left untouched.

The days have been getting colder and colder. We as SEALs like the cold, we have fur and a good amount of fat to keep us warm. However, that fat has to be maintained, and what better way to maintain this by eating classic winter food; hutspot. Exactly Ruud's idea for a good meal before the match. Me personally am not a fan of hutspot, but I have to admit that this one was pretty nice. Not too much onion and very much cooked through was the trick.

With everyone satisfied we started the match against the gents from 7-up. Evidently, they did not drink enough of the sugary goodness because the first set started with us quickly getting ahead and maintaining this lead throughout the set. They did manage to close the gap a bit but overall the SEAL Team Six' defence and attack tactics were working out.

Just as how strong we began the first set, just as bad was the start of the second set. The defence was still holding up but "our visors were not on sharp" in attacking. This led to a big point gap in favour of 7-up. This gap proved to be too big too close. Johannes attempted to salvage the set by going on an insane serving streak at the end of the set. This gave us a chance to still win it, but again the tactics of SEAL Team Six were all over the place and we lost by 25-27.

This was unacceptable to the team commanders. We took a reset, planned and geared up to completely turn the match to our advantage. The third and fourth set were much better than the first two. We launched full out attacks as well as sneaky tip attacks to completely confuse our opponent. We comfortably completed the mission we were set out to do, win! (We lost 1 point however so that is a bit sip, but we did all fill in 3-1 for the TOTO, matchfixing?)

After enjoying Wesley's grabbeltas of fancy beers in the shower, we also enjoyed his cake in the canteen together with a few beers and of course eentje in de VB.

A derby against 7-up Harambee

Planned to keep the points at bay

Alas we failed

The SEALs were whaled

We celebrated and drank our loss away
