The first time we recieved puppy support

Today we already had our third match of the season! This time, we traveled the long long distance to Oldenzaal.

Of course, beforehand, we shared a nice lunch at Marlijn’s house. And then it was time to head to the game.

Am I going to talk about the results of the game? Of course not!!! You know our blogs by now, right?! However, quality wise, we definitely improved as the game went on.

Was there a reason we improved so well? Hmmm let me think…. I can mention a few! First of all, Herwin decided to play tactically, and kept switching the setter for the dia. So we basically went back to basics and played 4-2 with a twist!

Speaking off people being in positions they normally are not in: Babeth proved to be an excellent libero today! I can confidently say that she took everybody by surprise by the amount of perfect passes she provided. Which gave Anne and Vrank a well deserved break from running for all the a bit less perfect passes provided by the rest.

Another cause of our improvement was that during the game, the quality of our songs developed! The problem is, what are you going to sing when you score no points…? I hate to say it, but at some time, you reach the point where singing “hArAmBeE iS tHe BaAs” without scoring any points becomes a bit akward… Also, why only start counting the last five points of the set??? Why not the last fifteen? Or when you still need second-juf points? Today we found the opportunity to try that out, and I would say 10/10 would recommend. The more songs, the better. Even if they make no sense at all.

Now I am almost forgetting the most important, incredible, adorable, amazing and fantastic reason we improved so well during the match: we had a puppy supporting us from the sidelines. Yes, you read that correctly. We had a PUPPY supporting us from the sidelines. As soon as Lise her parents walked in with their newest child, the opponents quite literally melted from the field because of the cuteness. And as soon as we smelled their weakness (I mean, you really can’t blame them, the pup is really cute), we attacked! Unfortunately for us, their cuteness-paralysis only lasted for a few minutes, as they quickly went back to their fast attacks with clever placements.

Anyhow, afterwards we enjoyed some delicious kaasstengels which Marlijn had made, and went home!

The first set was too short

Then we got puppy support

The opponents melted away

So we gave their win a delay

With often two setters in the court

We are looking forward to the next game! Will you be their supporting us? It is at 11.00, this saturday, in the sportcentre!
