The win streak in on!!

New week-end, new game for the Stormtwoopers. After 2 wins in the last games, we need to keep it up, to grind to the top.

All started in the city center at Rick’s place. Diner was ready at 18:30, with a game starting at 21:15. We had more than enough time to eat, so we even took time to watch the nice Dutch prime minister tell the sad new corona rules… It is at 20:00 that we are heading to Mariaparochie.

1st set is not a set to be remembered. We maybe thought we were still at Rick’s place, but our mind was obviously not on the court. Energy was low, we were a bit asleep, but the opponent was not, and they took the advantage of it. A lot of individual mistakes. Hard to decide what to do for our coach in that case. It ended at 25-17.

To start the 2nd set, Henny and our captain Frank maybe found the right words to get our team to fight like real Stormtwoopers again. I can quote: “probably the worst set we have done so far since September, so now we can only do better”. We manage to come back 1-1, with 20-25.

The opponent has lots of experienced players, and that surely is what kept them fighting like they did. We are far from playing to our best level, so once again, we let them take the lead 2-1, with 25-22.

4th set in now on. We need to win it in order to have a chance to win this game. We finally manage to play a little better, make some good rallies, and the spirit seems to be back again! We are back! 2-2, 15-25.

It is now time or never to show that we can handle pressure. And there it is, a win 12-15!!

Tough to stay focus during the game, with a lot of talking from the referee and from the opponent team. Even though the general level of the team was not the best, we still come back home with 3 points, a great time celebrating in the showers with some beers and the “worst case scenario” snacks!

Next game on Friday 19th at home at 19:00, we will see if we can keep our streak! Come cheer for us!!
