Finally not an old team

Still recovering from our game the day before and without our trusted captain Stef we got on our bikes and headed to the sportscentre. The opponent was fearful of our razor lined caps and had tried to postpone the match. Lennart convinced them that facing gents 9 is a hard task no matter what day they played us, so they might as well get it over with. Upon arriving at the sportscentre and starting our warming up we were delighted to see a team in our poule that wasn’t filled with old guys. As it was the first time the young faced WVC played us we had no expectation and we were not sure what our game plan would be. The level of volleyball was a lot higher in this match than we were used to, combine this with yesterday's match still having its effects and the young WVC team proved to be a real challenge. The sets were close and with them running a lot of middle attacks and the block being less consistent than normal it resulted in them winning the first 3 sets. Of course this was met with a great effort from us as we never got less than 20 points in a set. After being down 3-0 the great condition of the team started to show as we played a great 4th set. We were playing and singing at such a level that WVC got frustrated and threw away points by hammering the ball into the net to give the 4th set the result of 25-19. Tired, the peaky nineders sat on the terrace of the sportscentre to enjoy the lovely afternoon sun.
