First competition point!

Let us take you to the tropical vibes of last Saturday, when we played a match, had a nice team date with Gents 2, and wrapped up the day with the team presentations.
First up, we faced Eurosped Pollux in our first competition match. It did not start smoothly: there was some confuction about which court we would be playing on: the middle court or the left one? Initially, it seemend like it would be the left court, but soon we heard that we had to play on the middle one. And later, just when everyone was ready to start the match, th referee's chair needed to be swapped for safety reasons. One that was sorted, we could finally start the match.
The support from the stands was amazing; you cheered us on with the energy of a luau, and that is exactly what we needed, so mahola! Our block functioned like a well-oiled machine (throughout the whole match), and we put a lot of pressure with our services and attacks. This lead to our first point in the competition (25-18)!
In the second set, we, unfortunately, seemed to have trouble catching the right nalu and fell behind 8-20. But thanks to Lika's serving streak, amongst other things, we clawed our way back to 21-23. Sadly, we could not finish it off and lost the set 21-25. You'd think that after previous matches and that set, we would have learned to come out strong right from the start and stay strond. But, Eurosped Pollux hit us like a hurricane, and it quickly became 2-12, and later even 6-19. Although there was a comeback again, we were not able to do it as convincingly or even more convincingly as the previous set, with the results that we only could come back to 17-25. In the fourth set, we could not maitain the pressure like we did in the first set, ending the match with a 1-3 score.
Fortunately, there was still plenty of reason to celebrate after the match. After cheering on Gents 1, it was time for a super fun team date with Gents 2. While having cocktails, we enjoyed a quiz about our volleyball history in pairs, featuring some picutres from when we were 5-10 years old and stats about how many different clubs we've played for in total. Then, it was already time for the team presentations, where we showed up in our beautifull HawaIIan outfits with some Hula moves.
Next week, we are back for another (home) match, this time against Twente-Sparta (again). Be sure to come cheer us on at 1:00 PM as we seek for our revenge.

Laat ons jullie meenemen naar de tropische vibes van afgelopen zaterdag, waarop we een wedstrijd speelden, een teamdate hadden met Heren 2 en de dag afsloten met de teampresentaties.
Allereerst speelden we onze eerste competitie wedstrijd tegen Eurosped Pollux. Deze ging alles behalve soepel van start: er was enige verwarring over op welk veld we zouden gaan spelen: het middelste of het linkerveld? Eerst leek het het linkerveld te worden, maar niet lang daarna bleek het toch het middelste veld te zijn. Toen iedereen klaar stond om aan de wedstrijd te beginnen, bleek dat de scheidsrechtersstoel om veiligheidsredenen verwisseld moest worden. Toen dat ook opgelost was konden we met de wedstrijd beginnen.
De steun vanaf de tribune was geweldig; jullie moedigde ons aan met de energie van een luau, en dat was precies wat we nodig hadden, dus mahola! Ons blok werkte als een goed geoliede machine (gedurede de gehele wedstrijd) en we konden veel druk leggen met onze service en aanvallen. Dit leidde tot ons eerste punt in de competitie (25-18)!
Helaas leek het alsof we in de tweede set maar moeilijk de juiste nalu wisten te pakken, waardoor we op een acherstand kwamen van 8-20. Maar mede dankzij de serviceserie van Lika, wisten we terug te komen tot 21-23. Helaas wisten we het niet af te maken en moesten we de set met 21-25 aan ons voorbij laten varen. Je zou denken dat we na voorgaande wedstrijden en afgelopen set wel geleerd zouden moeten hebben om gelijk vanaf het begin van de set aan te gaan en aan te blijven. Maar Eurosped Pollux kwam als een orkaan op ons af en het was al snel 2-12 en later zelfs 6-19. Hoewel er sprake was van een comeback, was deze niet zo overtuigend of zelfs overtuigender dan in de voorgaande set, wat maakte dat we maar terug konden komen tot 17-25. Ook in de vierde set wisten we niet de druk vast te houden zoals we die hadden in de eerste set, met als eindresultaat dat met 1-3 de wedstrijd gespeeld was.
Gelukkig was er na de wedstrijd toch genoeg reden voor feest. Na Heren 1 te hebben aangemoedigd werd het tijd voor een super gezellige teamdate met Heren 2. Onder het genot van cocktails, deden we in duo's een leuke quiz over ons eigen volleybalverleden, met onder andere foto's van toen we 5-10 jaar oud waren en statistieken over bij hoeveel verschillende clubs we in totaal hebben gespeeld. Daarna was het alweer tijd voor de teampresentaties waarin we in onze mooie HawaIIaanse outfits met de Hula zeker niet buiten de boot vielen.
Volgende week is het alweer tijd voor een nieuwe (thuis)wedstrijd, ditmaal tegen Twente-Sparta. Kom ons ook zeker weer aanmoedigen om 13:00u, wanneer we onze revanche komen halen.
