Saturday, January 18, the match against Twente'05 DS1 was scheduled. Although the final score of 0-4 was not in our favor, there was definitely progression in our play. The first set started a bit messy, but we soon managed to put pressure in the back of the court and our service also ran well. After the sluggish start we started to become alert at the net, with nice blocks and where we punished their too far passes. Despite this effort, the set ended in 21-25.

In the second set Twente'05 started a bit messier, and we even managed to hold a small lead of 2 to 4 points. Halfway through the set Laura was brought in, and not much later her service series turned their 15-12 deficit into a 15-19 lead. Unfortunately we were unable to overcome this and started to play more sloppy and make unnecessary mistakes. This eventually resulted in a 16-25 loss.

The third set started more evenly, with strong defense on our part, with good blocking and passing. It was also the first set in which we committed a service error. Still, we were ahead 19-16 going into the final phase of the set. Unfortunately, Twente'05 then managed to bypass our block and position and time their block just right. So despite the efforts earlier in the set, this set also passed us by with a score of 21-25.

The fourth set was the most exciting, with both teams competing against each other and the score continuously level. Once we reached the final phase of the set, we felt the energy of the crowd, who tried to guide us to the win. But unfortunately this set also fell short, and with a score of 24-26 we were not able to improve on our previous result. But although the final result was not in our favor, we can look back on it positively, because we showed that we are not that easy to beat.

Zaterdag 18 januari stond de wedstrijd tegen Twente'05 DS1 op het programma. Hoewel de uiteindelijke score van 0-4 niet in ons voordeel was, was er zeker progressie te zien in ons spel. De eerste set begon wat rommelig, maar we wisten al snel druk te leggen achterin het veld en ook onze service liep goed. Na het stroevere begin begonnen we alert te worden aan het net, met mooie blocks en waar we hun te verre passjes afstraften. Ondanks deze inspanning eindigde de set in 21-25.

In de tweede set begon Twente'05 wat rommeliger, en we wisten zelfs een kleine voorsprong van 2 tot 4 punten vast te houden. Halverwege de set werd Laura er bij hun ingebracht, en niet veel later zorgde haar serviceserie ervoor dat hun achterstand van 15-12, werd omgezet naar een 15-19 voorsprong. Helaas konden we dit niet goed te boven komen en begonnen we wat slordiger te spelen en onnodige fouten te maken. Dit resulteerd uiteindelijk in een 16-25 verlies.

De derde set begon meer gelijkopgaand, met een sterke verdediging van onze kant, met goed blokwerk en passwerk. Het was eveneens de eerste set waarin wij een servicefout maakten. Toch stonden we 19-16 voor toen we de eindfase van de set ingingen. Helaas, slaagde Twente'05 er toen in om ons blok te omzeilen en hun blok juist goed te positioneren en timen. Dus ondanks de inspanningen eerder in de set, ging eveneens deze set aan ons voorbij met een stand van 21-25.

De vierde set was het spannendst, met beide teams aan elkaar gewaagd en een continue gelijk opgaande stand. Eenmaal in de eindfase van de set voelde we de energie van het publiek enorm, wie ons probeerde te begeleiden naar de winst. Maar helaas werd het het ook deze set nét niet, en wisten we met een stand van 24-26 niet het resultaat van onze vorige ontmoeting te verbeteren. Maar hoewel het uiteindelijk resultaat niet in ons voordeel was, kunnen we er wel positief op terug kijken, omdat we hebben laten zien dat we echt niet makkelijk te verslaan zijn.
