Nearing the end in the championship race for the 3rd division

On Saturday the 22nd of March, the antepenultimate (yes, I also googled this, it means 'third-last' but then fancy) match for Harambee Gents 1 in the championship race took place, against Wivoc 1. After a delightful lunch made possible by Taric & Vince, we left for Winterswijk.

Unfortunately, also in this game, the nerves that accompany a championship race, got the better of us in the first set (just like last week). Volleyball play without too much risk and energy will rarely result in a win. Luckily, when the points became important in the first set, the energy kicked in and we managed to secure this set 22-25. The second and third set went rather quickly, showing that a good defence and serve makes volleyball sometimes an easy sport. But the fourth set again showed, that volleyball is also rather difficult, especially if every point is important for the championship. It was a close call, but Wivoc managed to score the last point, meaning the end score was 1-3.

There was still one highlight in the fourth set, where Mitch after expressing his disagreement with the referee multiple times, managed to score his first yellow card! This at least gave some positive notes to this last set.

Only 2 games are left: One against Aastad during the final homeweekend, and one against our nemisis Livo in Duiven! We still have all the possibilities to be at the first spot in the 3rd division at the end of the season, so we could use all your support in the Houten Zaal! See you there! :)

In a match where the spirits were bright,
Harambee played with all of their might.
They won three to one,
Underneath the sun,
But one set lost dimmed their delight.

Though the victory felt like a cheer,
A championship prize still unclear.
For that set they grieve,
In their hearts, they believe,
Next time, it will all be sincere!
