A Cup Clash to Remember – Harambee HS 1 vs EVV HS 1
Woensdag 22 januari 2025
Cup nights always carry a special energy, and this one was no different. The quarter-final of the Beker Heren brought us face-to-face with EVV HS 1 on a Wednesday evening in Enschede. The stakes were high and the hall buzzed with anticipation—thank you to everyone who came out to support us under the midweek lights!
Unfortunately, our lineup was hit by a wave of illnesses, forcing some last-minute reshuffling. EVV, on the other hand, came in strong and showed immediately why they’re a serious cup contender. Their consistent serves and disciplined play made things difficult from the start, and we dropped the first set 17–25.
We bounced back in the second, adjusting our rhythm and finding more success at the net. With renewed energy, we took the set 25–20 and looked to turn the match around. But EVV responded with maturity and power, exploiting our weakened rotations and taking the next two sets (25–13, 25–17).
Despite the 1–3 loss and our exit from the cup, there were plenty of positives to take away: moments of great volleyball, resilience from the squad, and valuable experience under pressure. This one didn’t earn us points, but it strengthened our team in more ways than the scoreboard can show.
The focus now shifts back to the league—where we still have everything to play for.
The cup lights shone on a midweek fight,
But illness dimmed our full-blooded might.
EVV struck swift with purpose and form,
While we braved the storm, far from our norm.
One set we stole, our spirit undeterred,
In a clash remembered, though victory blurred.
