Our cup match jounrey continues
On the 18th of December, Heren 1 played another round in the cup match against a promotie class team - Dros-Alterno HS 3. It was a perfect opportunity to have a game before meeting Time-Out 75 HS1 for the last match of the calendar year. The game began well, and we had a good lead, we had a good passing, were scoring well, however struggled in blocking and defending. We managed to make things especially interesting, allowing our opponents to tie the score at 23:23. This is the type of suspenseful game Wybre... Read more
Our first loss of the season
Already a week after our previous game, we were faced against Monica’s arch-nemesis, Fysio Aastad HS1. The far fetching rivalry promised a good game full of fighting and that it was. The game started off with trading points, after which Wybren went off on a 6-point serving-spree, extending our lead to 7:1. However, unable to score, we gave away our lead and gave the opponent a fighting chance. In the middle of the set we managed to get ahead once more, having a 5-6-point lead. Winning the initial set felt... Read more
Solid 5 points against Skopein Wivoc HS1
A warm welcome to all our readers. Today we are back to give an overview of the recent games the fighters of Harambee Heren 1 have had. Starting things off with a home match, that almost did not happen, against Skopein Wivoc HS1. Our opponent wanted to cancel the game due to injuries and lack of players, however, we were already in the mindset of playing and did not want to cancel. On the game day we were unsure whether our opponent would even show up. To our fortune, they did show, but only with 6 players.... Read more
Dominating match against Vips H2
On the 28th of November, after a two week break from games, Gents 1 warriors were ready to get back in the ring to battle it out with Vips Bardot H2. The opposing team had the home court advantage and the home court ball – horrible Gala ball, however we were unfaced by these factors. We will bring the heat wherever and in whichever conditions. We started a bit rough, being 4:2 behind, as the receiving was a bit rough and scoring was not working. However, we made the necessary changes and within a few poin... Read more
Gents 1 lost their first set of the season (in third division)
On the 15th of November, a week after completely annihilating Rivo Rijsen H1, we were faced against Monica’s other team – Volley’68 HS1. Already before the match during warming up something felt a bit off with our warriors. The hitting wasn’t going too well and in general there was some nervousness in the air. Out of the gate, the opponents started well and therefore we were trailing by a few points. We were able to make a comeback and get ahead by a few points with successful blocking and attacking... Gents 1 retakes the pole 1 position
On the 9th November, the SC4 arena was once again filled with fired up fans and Gents 1 fighters. This time our opponents were Rivo Rijssen H1. We were expecting a tough game, even the supporters of the opposing team had the guts to come out here and cheer them on. We were hungry for some blood and as ready as we could be. The first set began well, we went point for point in the first few points, but then we were more consistent and the opponent made quite a lot of mistakes. We earned our first lead with so... Gents 1 lost their first set, but continue still undefeated
Before we begin, I’d like to take a moment and dedicate a paragraph to our star middle player, Martin. Martin is a great middle, he is there at the most important moments and spikes hard and strong, not to mention his amazing blocking. He recently went through a very unfortunate happening in training and will be out of our lines for some time. All the readers of this blog are with you, Martin, and wish you a quick recovery. The other middles will try to fill your place, which is not an easy thing to do. Y... Read more
Who can take a set from Gents 1??
On the 12th of October the Harambee fighters faced a new challenger, Hellas H1, who for some reason are trying to be the Greek basketball team. Even though they were playing promotie class last year, we were not underestimating our opponent, as there must’ve been a good reason for their promotion. So the fight started with our lovely supporters in the stands of SC4. The match started well, however we made a lot of our own mistakes. We were missing serves (probably due to the fact that we are training in S... Read more
Gents 1 13:0 run
Last Saturday, 5th of October, the MM1 team had a chance to play their first 3rd division match against LIVO HS1. Going into the game, the tensions were high, however our fighters were ready to face the opponent and prepared to bash some balls into their side of the court. LIVO is a team that does not give up and we were ready to destroy their fighting spirit. The first set began with a few service mistakes from both sides, however after that we began our road to victory with the first attack by Martin, who... Read more
Undefeated Gents 1
Saturday, 28th of September, the gents one direction had its first home game and final cup match in the pool stages. The stands were filled with spectators and their cheering songs were heard from far far away. We also had the Beaver mascot cheering for us, who probably sweat more in that costume, while entertaining the crowd, than the players on the court. The opponent for this time was Apollo Heren 2 and Heren 2 they are for a reason, as they were a far second in the match and did not even come close to u... Read more
