Holding the Fort – Harambee HS 1 vs Volley’68 HS 1
Zaterdag 8 februari 2025 Back in Enschede, back in front of our amazing home crowd, and back on the hunt for points. On February 8th, Harambee H1 welcomed Volley’68 HS 1 for another critical match in the third division. With the standings tightening and every game counting, this one was all about determination—and energy. The first set set the tone (literally). Both teams exchanged blows in a very close set, but we kept our composure and edged it 25–23. Volley’68 responded well in the second, rampin... Lees meer
Steel Nerves in Rijssen – Rivo Rijssen HS 1 vs Harambee HS 1
Zaterdag 1 februari 2025 On the road again, and this time to Rijssen for another key clash in the 3rd Division. With a few tough weeks behind us, Harambee H1 was ready to show its steel. The matchup promised to be a close one—and it definitely delivered. The first set opened in full throttle. Rivo brought intensity right from the start, and while we matched them stride for stride, they edged us out 25–23. But our samurai don’t fold easily. In the second set, we sharpened our focus, tightened the passi... Lees meer
A Cup Clash to Remember – Harambee HS 1 vs EVV HS 1
Woensdag 22 januari 2025 Cup nights always carry a special energy, and this one was no different. The quarter-final of the Beker Heren brought us face-to-face with EVV HS 1 on a Wednesday evening in Enschede. The stakes were high and the hall buzzed with anticipation—thank you to everyone who came out to support us under the midweek lights! Unfortunately, our lineup was hit by a wave of illnesses, forcing some last-minute reshuffling. EVV, on the other hand, came in strong and showed immediately why they... Lees meer
Protecting the Dojo – Harambee HS 1 vs Time Out’75 HS 1
Zaterdag 18 januari 2025 The first home match of 2025 was one to remember. Back in the Sportscentre and fueled by the cheers of our fantastic supporters (thank you for showing up in numbers!), Harambee H1 faced off once again against Time Out’75 HS 1. With the away win from December still fresh in our minds, we were determined to defend our dojo and keep the momentum alive. The opening set was sharp and focused—good passing, smart swings, and effective blocking helped us take it 25–20. The second set,... Lees meer
Dominance in Nunspeet – Hellas HS 1 vs Harambee HS 1
Zaterdag 11 januari 2025 A new year, a fresh mindset, and a team ready to make a statement. That was the energy as Harambee H1 travelled to the distant lands of Nunspeet to take on Hellas HS 1. The winter break seemed to have done wonders—legs were fresh, communication was sharp, and we were locked in from the first point. The first set started strong. A solid service run and quick transitions on the net gave us the edge, closing it out 17–25. Hellas looked stunned but regrouped—briefly. In the second... Lees meer
Ending the Year with a Comeback – Time Out’75 HS 1 vs Harambee HS 1
Zaterdag 21 december 2024 With one more match to go before the holiday break, Harambee H1 traveled to Time Out’75 looking to close 2024 on a high note. The spirits were good, but the start of the match definitely wasn’t what we hoped for. Time Out came out swinging, putting us under pressure early and taking the first set 25–17. Not ones to be discouraged, we regrouped quickly and brought more focus to the court. The second set saw a noticeable shift: smarter passing, sharper attacks, and more solid s... Lees meer
Clash of the Titans (Part 2)
March 1st, the day everyone cirkeled red in their agenda’s, was finaly here. The match of the season, the clash of the titans, the summum of third division volleyball, the kingmaker, or in short: The match Harambee Gents 1 against Apollo 8 Gents 1. A reunion of old friends, former teammates and as of this season, sworn rivals. Two weeks ago, we played the first leg of this match, in the godforsaken Borne. As you might now, we unfortunately lost 3-1 and lost our momentum in the race for eternal glory (or t... Lees meer
Nearing the end in the championship race for the 3rd division
On Saturday the 22nd of March, the antepenultimate (yes, I also googled this, it means 'third-last' but then fancy) match for Harambee Gents 1 in the championship race took place, against Wivoc 1. After a delightful lunch made possible by Taric & Vince, we left for Winterswijk. Unfortunately, also in this game, the nerves that accompany a championship race, got the better of us in the first set (just like last week). Volleyball play without too much risk and energy will rarely result in a win. Luckily, when... Lees meer
First clash of the titans in 3rd division
On Valentine's day 2025, the first clash of the titans in the 3rd division took place in Borne. The difference in the rankings between both teams was very small and the coming two games would play a very important game in the championship race in the 3rd division. Playing against several old team members from Harambee also gave this game another extra challenge. Unfortunately for Harambee, Apollo started off very well, showing why they deserved to be in the top positions in the 3rd division. Strong serve... Lees meer
Sad 3:1 victory against Vips Bardot H2
On the 8th of March, a week after the game against Apollo H1, where the fighters of H1 got revenge after the previous game against our closest rivals, the H1 men were back against Vips Bardot H2 and our old companion Yuri. In our heads we thought that the game was going to be “easy” as the last time we faced them at their own home court, we beat them 4:0, with them not getting more than 18 points in any of the sets. However, the game did not turn out to be as simple as we thought. We were truly stru... Lees meer
