Operation "Gemini Gambit"

Commando’s Log: Wednesday, 14 January 2026 – Mission failure

Filed by commando TheLaW

I’m here to present bad news.
Even though the calendar turned and a new year began, our first mission of the year ended in failure.

We went into battle against an enemy we had faced before — and defeated before. That history gave us confidence, maybe too much of it. We expected the outcome to be familiar.
It wasn’t.

Set 1 — Broken Promises

The first set began the way our battles too often do: with low energy.
This hurt even more knowing that during training we had promised ourselves to start stronger, sharper, and more alert.

The set stayed close, swinging back and forth. Chief identified a clear weakness in the enemy’s defense and gave the order to exploit it. But the troops hesitated. The call wasn’t followed.
That hesitation cost us.
Set lost.

Set 2 — Brute Force Victory

In the second set, we convinced ourselves that raw power would be enough.
We kept launching heavy attacks, trying to overwhelm the enemy and force them to break. But they were stubborn. They resisted every push.

The battle dragged on beyond the usual 25 points, long, exhausting, and tense.
In the end, we managed to overpower them and take the set.
A hard-earned win, but one that drained more energy than it should have.

Set 3 — Inconsistent Command

Going into the third set, chief kept repeating the same message: use their weaknesses.
At moments, we listened.
At other moments, we didn’t.

That inconsistency defined the set. When we executed the plan, we gained ground. When we abandoned it, the enemy took control again.
Our lack of discipline gave them the opening they needed and they seized it.
Set lost.

Set 4 — Late Reinforcements

With our backs against the wall, chief made changes and sent in fresh troops.
Unfortunately, an error was made in positioning, forcing some commandos to fight in roles they weren’t accustomed to.

Even so, the team rallied. We found a rhythm. We started pushing back.
But by the time momentum shifted, the damage was already done.
The set ended before we could complete the comeback.

Final Debrief

The battle was lost.
A painful way to start the year, especially against an enemy we believed we understood.

But failures expose weaknesses, and weaknesses show us exactly where to train harder.
The year is young.
The commandos will adapt.
And this mission failure will not define our campaign.
