Volley Ops Review: Wevo 70 Heren 2 Takeover

Location: Middle of Nowhere Date: Last Friday   Outcome: Gents 7 vs. Wevo 70 Heren 2 Result: 0-4 (Yep, they got us)   Overview: Last Friday, our volleyball squad went head-to-head with Wevo 70 Heren 2 in the wilds. The scoreboard might not be our best friend this time—Wevo 70 Heren 2 secured all four sets, posting scores of 25-10, 25-19, 25-7, and 25-13. The first set hit us like a bombardment (25-10), and they kept the pressure on. We tried to regroup in the second set (25-19), but they were relentless... Read more

What a comeback!

It is still dark and empty in SC1 when we are about to setup the fields for today's matches. However even though it is dark, there is already a lot of excitement going on, since we have to play against mix 7 today. As indicated by their name, mix 7 has been upping their game quite a bit and has proven to be a worthy opponent during a match, and oh boy... they were.  During the first set, they gave their all and they took it! Our team finally being adjusted to each other (thank you Hilde and Kasia for subbi... Read more

The "infamous" third set keeping us away from 'altijd pieken' (always peaking)

On Saturday, November 4, we played a Saturday match for the first time this season. We knew beforehand that it would be a tough game, as we were up against Eurosped Pollux, the number two at the time. The opponents also knew it would be tough, otherwise, why would you have 4 coaches on the sideline. Nevertheless, we went into the match full of confidence and that paid off in a 1-3 win for Harambee! And which set we lost, well, that was, of course, the infamous third set. Anyway, back to the beginning. When ... Read more

Defeated the number 2

On Friday the 10th of November it was time for a match again, yay! We had to play against HVC Dames 5, who are the number 2 in the ranking. So this promised to be an exciting match! As the hooligans we are, we went with the v.v. Drienerlo van to Den Ham. Of course, we wanted some good pump up music, however, no one had an aux port so no good songs. It was the radio or a CD. As team we thought, lets go old school. Searching for a nice CD, we found out there was only one CD available. We ended up listening to... Read more

Unfortunately, there was still a down between the last peaks.

We zat... Read more

A kitchen full of keukenprinzesjes

The keukenprinzesjes played against Vrivo Ladies 4 this week and for the first time this year: everyone was present at the match!! As you can imagine, we were very excited to play our first match with the full team, but we weren't the most excited group present. Maud's parents were by far the most enthusiastic at this game! They didn't only cheer for us during the game, but also cooked us a ****load of macaroni. After the nice macaroni, the only option was to win, right?  Well.... while we started strong, ... Read more

Red Card Mystery

Krekkers HS 1 vs Harambee HS 2   17-25   25-21   25-21   25-18   After a strong start we started to slow down after a strong middle player on the other side as well as frustrations with the arbitration. This game was full of mysteries, like how Henny was mysteriously awarded two red cards 😱. Among other things, the game continued to be fairly close despite our low spirits. We are hopeful that we can soon get back on that winning train once again. We hope to give you a good display this Friday at... Read more

⛩️ Heren Samurein fight first cup-match

On a rainy Wednesday evening, the brave samurai of Harambee Gents 1 gathered at the sports centre, joined by Alex, Nikolay and Vince. This time not for a regular training, but for the first cup match of the year. After an hour of driving over small country roads, Harambee arrived in Doesburg to play against Gents 1 of ACE. In the first set, ACE set off with a strong start, resulting in an equal score in the beginning of the set. Luckily, Harambee was able to improve the level of play. Big attacks brought t... Bop to the top (of Overijssel)

On Thursday 02-11 during the big storm Ciaran we all had to gather to leave to den Ham. Which is far far away from Enschede. After a lovely dinner at Jara’s place with gnocchi from the airfryer, yes this hack works perfectly, we prepared ourselves for the long journey to the game. On the road we experienced some strong winds and a lot of branches everywhere but we made it! With only eight players and our two lovely coaches we had a small group today. And oh no our libero Martina was not there. So our midd... Read more

Another cozy Christmas weekend

On Friday 27 October, we again pulled out all the peaks to go out and shine a match. The atmosphere was right in with the taking of our team photo, which showed us all peaking. We certainly continued this in the match, as we won set after set (and yes, even the infamous 3rd set), ending with a 4-0 win, our first of the season! There were also certainly some not-so-high peaks in the match such as the crate of beer due to a serve that went under the net, almost two in fact, and some balls where the communicat... Read more
