Dominating match against Vips H2
On the 28th of November, after a two week break from games, Gents 1 warriors were ready to get back in the ring to battle it out with Vips Bardot H2. The opposing team had the home court advantage and the home court ball – horrible Gala ball, however we were unfaced by these factors. We will bring the heat wherever and in whichever conditions.
We started a bit rough, being 4:2 behind, as the receiving was a bit rough and scoring was not working. However, we made the necessary changes and within a few points were back even and took the lead. We did not look back from there: our excellent blocking, attacking and relentless defense separated us from the opponents by a long shot. We took the first set 25:16.
The second set began better than the first one. Felt like our warriors were fully warmed up by now and in the right mindset. We took the lead and increased it by a large margin. The main reason for our success was our defense – we simply refused to let the ball touch the ground. Everybody was giving their all and this led to an even more dominating 25:12 victory in the second set.
Sets three and four were not any different from the previous two. We passed and defended well, our blocking was on point and attacking was working well. Everybody that came to the game was able to play and get some important game experience. As in both sets 3 and 4 we got ahead, which broke the morale of the opponent. They tried to show some fighting spirit from time-to-time, which was quickly shut down by us scoring a few points in a row. In the end their will was quite broken, and we took the sets 3 and 4 with the scores of 25:17, 25:16 respectively.
This 4:0 victory put us back in the number 1 position of the third division, separating us from our biggest rival, Apollo 8 H1, by 3 points. Fortunately, our next match will already be in a week, when we will be back on our home court, playing in SC4 against Skopein Wivoc HS1. Be there to support our own!
