Solid 5 points against Skopein Wivoc HS1
A warm welcome to all our readers. Today we are back to give an overview of the recent games the fighters of Harambee Heren 1 have had. Starting things off with a home match, that almost did not happen, against Skopein Wivoc HS1.
Our opponent wanted to cancel the game due to injuries and lack of players, however, we were already in the mindset of playing and did not want to cancel. On the game day we were unsure whether our opponent would even show up. To our fortune, they did show, but only with 6 players.
The match started off well, with us trying to find our rhythm. The early and middle stages of the set were a bit fluctuating, however we managed to secure a solid 21:15 lead. We made a double switch and from there onwards we were completely unable to score. The opponent made a comeback and the atmosphere on the bench and in the court felt stressed. We made a switch back and were able to take the next point and finished the set off after.
The second and the third set went in a similar way to the first one. We had a comfortable lead, however, struggled at times to keep a stable rhythm and play at a constant level. The 6-player team managed to score quite a lot of points on us, especially their middle setter connection was pretty dangerous. Regardless we showed our power and took the second and the third set 25:20, 25:22 respectively.
With the win in our hands, we were hungry for the 5th point. It isn’t a win if it isn’t 4:0. And win we did. The set already began with us shredding their receiving, defense and blocking to pieces. There was nothing left of their game. Alex, was a final nail in their coffin, smashing every ball after being put in the court. In the end a strong 25:14 victory and much needed 5 points.
