On Saturday the 23rd of September, the first battle for Heren Samurein took place, against the second team of our neighbouring association in Borne, Apollo 8. Welcome to the race report of the first sprint race of this season. Despite being called a sprint race, this race also offered the opportunity to earn 5 points. The two teams that started on pole position were the always cheerful and best-dressed team of Harambee, known as Ferradrie, and the impressive courreurs from Eurospet in Oldenzaal. For the first time this season ladies 5 school musical had a match. That started with a nice dinner together at Esther’s house, after which we took the touristic route to the beautiful little town of Bentelo. After arriving, our hungover coach first wanted a cup of coffee before we changed. While enjoying the beautiful playlist of high school musical we prepared for our first match. Saturday we played our first match against Mintonette ladies 3. Really early in the morning we came to the spc. Unfortunately the ladies of Mintonette were less excited. We started to think they weren’t coming when they arrived at the court, so we started a little late. Nonetheless we started the game and won the set with 25-12.  Then the second set we won with 10-25. Helloo dear fellow Moffel and Viertje fans!   The past week we were very excited for our first match with the new ladies four. We had a whole week of brainstorming for a theme, sneaking around to make the video, laugh about Tom flying around and somewhere in between playing some volleyball. On Saturday morning 9:45 it was time to gather for our first pre-match coffee, where as you would expect at that time, only half of the team was present :(. After starting the game with a tight victory in the first set, the team slowly lost its grip on the match. Although all the sets were within grasp, small errors mostly in terms of communication held us back from taking the first home game. The final set was nothing short of a disappointment, as we conceded our five point lead and lost the game without scoring another point. Now the new college year has started, we have as usual a new team and the start of a new season. After two weeks of thinking about a nice theme and creating a beautiful logo and movie, we could finally start with our first match of the year. Unfortunately, we were incomplete, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. While being cheered from the bench, we did our best on the field to get the best possible result. In the first match of the season, Gents 10 had to face their greatest adversaries yet, Gents 9. We entered the game with hope in our hearts, excited to beKen the season. Last sunday Gents 4 had their first game together. We had a bit of a rough start with our coach Rens having his own game and a lot of chaos in the field. However, Zare stepped in as a subsitute coach and in the end we won a set! After a few refreshing broodje knakworst at the comittee market, we went in to the next match full of motivation. After a neck on neck game with gents 5, we lost 3-1. During the 5th set in the canteen we found a very valuable possesion of Ladies 4, which we are currenly keeping safe... Lees meer
